BC Ferries - Sporting Life on the Coast Program

BC Ferries and Sport BC recognize that travel is often a barrier to amateur sport teams as they seek competitive opportunities for their athletes. In order to assist in removing this barrier, the Sporting Life on the Coast program, has been developed to provide travel support to Sport BC member organizations and their member clubs. Through this exciting program, BC Ferries and Sport BC will assist with ferry travel costs for athletes, coaches and officials.

Travel Application

In order to be eligible to receive BC Ferries travel vouchers for our organization, please complete the pdf application or online form in full. Sport BC member organizations are eligible to submit as are their member clubs. Eligible users of the passes include athletes, coaches and officials for travel to selection camps, Provincial, Western Canadian, or National Championships, and coaches and officials for travel to recognized certification or professional development courses (does not include pre-season, tournaments, regular season league or event play).

Criteria

Applications are open to Sport BC member organizations (Provincial Sport Organizations) and their member clubs.

Eligible users of the passes include athletes, coaches and officials for travel to selection camps, Provincial, Western Canadian, or National Championships. (does not include pre-season, tournaments or regular season league or event play)

In addition, support will also be considered for coaches and officials for travel to a recognized certification or professional development opportunity.

A maximum of $400 per application will be considered.

Please refer to the BC Ferries website for information on travel planning and to assist in determining the value of the travel requested for your event.

Passes are only valid for the event and date(s) specified on the application.

Each application must be accompanied by your Coast Sport Experience, and support documentation for your event, e.g. confirmation of registration, tournament/competition information or flyer/brochure.

Application Process

Applications will only be accepted if application forms are fully complete and meet all application criteria

Entries will be considered during the following period: June 1, 2009 - March 31, 2010.

Applications must be received a few weeks prior to the scheduled event

Late applications or applications for events that have already occurred will not be considered

**Due to the overwhelming demand, Sport BC is unable to accept all the applications. First priority will go to groups or individuals traveling to Provincial, National or Western Canadian Championships.
